If you know me well enough, you know I love party planning and all the little details that go into it! Choosing the theme is most important and in this case it had to be “baby dolls” or “Curious George”. Just like I tell my clients before a session, you want to document your children as they are and how you want to remember them at this stage in life. Therefore, I went with a Curious George theme but stayed true to my style as well. I made sure to include some of McKinley’s favorite things:
*”GEORGE!”
*breakfast (her favorite meal of the day)
*sweets & snacks (she’s a picky eater but she can definitely throw back some dessert)
*stickers
*coloring

I was really inspired by the Pom pom garland in the Pottery Barn Kids and Land of Nod magazines so I knew I had to make some myself to be a focal point for the party. Although very time consuming it was totally worth it!

Having activities for the kids to do during the party keeps them busy, lets the adults hang out a little and keeps the party fun and exciting. McKinley likes all things girly so I had the kids make snack necklaces as their first activity for the morning! Some of the kids were very focused and made sure to put the perfect ratio of Cheerios to Fruit Loops (yes this was the first time my kids ever had fruit loops!) and others put more in their mouth than on the necklace.

It definitely wasn’t easy finding snacks with holes in them that weren’t candy or gummies but I’m pretty sure the Fruit Loops were a favorite!

Yes, I did tear apart a 100 page Curious George book that I found at Goodwill to make this book page wreath but I absolutely love how it turned out. I’m thinking about making another one with regular book pages that will stay up year round. The kids received Curious George books as their favors and my very talented mom sewed all the pieces of the puppet stage.

I printed the Curious George coloring pages off Pinterest and the kids had fun with the Curious George stickers as well.

A party is definitely not complete without CAKE…..Right?!?!

I adore this shot because just a couple weeks before on her actual birthday we taught her how to blow out the candles!

And right after blowing out her candles she politely asked for a fork!
